An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Waste Enforcement Department.
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Waste Enforcement Officer to join our Waste Enforcement Team on a 12-month fixed-term contract (37 hours per week).

As a Waste Enforcement Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe and environmentally responsible local area. You will work closely with residents, businesses and partner agencies to investigate environmental offences, promote compliance and help improve the quality of life for our communities.
Key Responsibilities
Investigate incidents of fly-tipping, littering, waste-related offences and other environmental crimes.
Gather evidence and prepare case files in accordance with relevant legislation and enforcement procedures.
Issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) and undertake enforcement action where appropriate.
Conduct interviews and witness statements in line with established procedures.
Carry out patrols and inspections across the local authority area to identify environmental concerns and compliance issues.
Respond to complaints from residents, businesses and elected members regarding waste and environmental offences.
Work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, partner agencies and external stakeholders.
Promote environmental awareness and educate residents and businesses on their responsibilities relating to waste management and environmental legislation.
Maintain accurate records, case management systems and enforcement documentation.
Attend court proceedings when required and provide evidence in support of prosecutions.
We are seeking a motivated individual who:
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Can confidently engage with members of the public in a professional and respectful manner.
Demonstrates strong investigative, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Has experience in enforcement, regulatory services, environmental services, community safety or a related field (desirable).
Is able to interpret and apply legislation, policies and procedures.
Can work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
Has strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload.
Is confident using IT systems and maintaining accurate records.
Has a commitment to excellent customer service and community engagement.
Holds a full driving licence and has access to transportation for business use (if required).
