Buffaload Logistics is an award-winning chilled distribution company, headquartered in Ellington, Huntingdon, with additional depots in Avonmouth, Bellshill, Crewe, Coventry, and Skelmersdale.
We are currently seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager Nights to join our busy night operations team at our Crewe depot. This role follows a 5-on, 2-off shift pattern (Sunday to Thursday).
We are looking for a Warehouse Manager who will be responsible for (but not limited to):
- Overseeing the safe and efficient day-to-day running of the warehouse and yard, including conducting Health & Safety inspections, carrying out random checks on processes, and ensuring all documentation and records are accurate and up to date.
- Maintaining high standards of Health & Safety by completing regular inspections, process audits, and compliance checks across all operational areas, ensuring adherence to company policies and relevant legislation.
- Ensuring all stock is accurately receipted, stored, rotated, and dispatched in line with company procedures, HACCP principles, and food safety standards.
- Monitoring and driving warehouse performance, ensuring KPIs, productivity targets, and service levels are consistently achieved and, where possible, exceeded.
- Managing, developing, and leading the warehouse team, including workforce planning, performance management, absence management, and employee relations, ensuring a fair, consistent, and legally compliant approach.
- Driving the people agenda within the warehouse, including engagement, retention, training and development, and succession planning, fostering a positive and inclusive working environment.
- Leading, motivating, and engaging warehouse teams to create a high-performing, collaborative, and positive working environment.
- Ensuring all operational processes are consistently followed, with robust stock control, accurate paperwork, and effective inventory management maintained at all times.
- Promoting a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and safety within the warehouse operation.
- Taking overall accountability for warehouse compliance, operational performance, and team development, ensuring the function supports wider business objectives.
You must:
- Have proven experience in a warehouse management or supervisory role, ideally within a fast-paced distribution or FMCG environment.
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop warehouse teams effectively.
- Be proactive with a hands-on approach to problem-solving, driving a solutions-focused culture.
- Have excellent attention to detail, particularly within stock control, compliance, and operational accuracy.
- Possess strong communication skills and confidence in engaging with teams to drive performance and standards.
