Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Joinery Workshop/Goods In Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will assist in managing incoming materials, assisting with stock control, and supporting workshop operations to ensure smooth production flow. Your proactive approach and mechanical aptitude will help us maintain high standards of quality and efficiency in our joinery processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a vibrant environment where your skills in warehouse management, materials handling, basic bench joinery and construction support will be valued and developed. You will require a full driving licence as collections and deliveries of materials will be required. Works will be based at our Daventry workshop so the ideal candidate would need to be local to that area.
Duties
- Receive, inspect, and accurately record incoming materials.
- Operate forklift safely to load, unload, and transport materials within the workshop and storage areas.
- Manage stock levels through effective stocking, picking, and packing to support production schedules.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, ensuring all items are correctly documented and stored securely.
- Support the workshop team by handling heavy lifting tasks and ensuring materials are prepared for joinery processes.
- Maintain organized storage areas, ensuring materials are easily accessible and inventory is kept up-to-date.
- Collaborate with warehouse management systems to track materials movement and update records promptly.
- Conduct regular safety checks on equipment such as forklifts and ensure adherence to safety protocols during all handling activities.
- Collect and delivery materials across the country as required.
Experience
- Previous warehouse/workshop experience with a focus on materials handling in a construction or joinery environment preferred.
- Experience of supporting fit out and refurbishment works on commercial premises would be a bonus but not essential.
- Previous bench joinery skills to a basic level are required.
- Valid counterbalance forklift certification is highly desirable; experience operating forklifts safely is essential.
- Mechanical knowledge or construction experience that supports understanding of joinery materials and processes.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during daily tasks.
- Experience in picking & packing shipments, shipping & receiving procedures, load & unload operations.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in stock control and inventory management.
