Role: Part-Time Buys & Retail Assistant (General Assistant)
Location: Sunderland Store
Hours: Part-time (2-3 days across a 7-day week)
We are seeking a confident individual with drive and passion to join us as a Buys & Retail Assistant in our Sunderland store. The position is part-time, working 2 to 3 days a week. Shift days are flexible depending on the applicant, and with weekend and Sunday shifts available, this role is perfectly suited for those in full-time education.
Your role will be highly interactive, fast-paced, and unique compared to standard high-street retail. You will be responsible for both selling to and buying pre-owned goods directly from customers. You will actively promote products, use tailored sales techniques, ask probing questions to understand customer needs, and negotiate effectively on the buyback counter.
The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have a good working knowledge of some of the items we sell, ranging from jewellery and gold to modern gadgets such as mobile phones, tablets, PCs, and games consoles.
Key Skills
- Retail experience in a similar business or good knowledge of the items we sell and services we offer is an advantage.
- Highly approachable with excellent communication and active listening skills.
- Confidence in negotiating, handling buybacks, and conducting product demonstrations.
- Strong attention to detail and good time management.
- Good PC skills and strong numerical and written capabilities.
- Ability to remain calm and work well under pressure.
- Team-oriented, but perfectly capable of working on your own initiative.
- Previous face-to-face customer service experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve and maximize sales targets whilst maintaining and enhancing the company’s image.
- Provide excellent customer service by continuously developing your product knowledge.
- Demonstrate merchandise while recognizing cross-selling and up-selling opportunities.
- Replenish stock and maintain high standards of merchandising and housekeeping throughout the store.
- Assist and take the initiative in planning in-store promotional events.
- Participate in appropriate training and development activities to meet the changing demands of the job.
Pay: Up to £12.71 per hour
