Job Summary
Our client is seeking a dedicated Sprayer Operator/Crop Technician to join their growing farming business near Diss. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying crop protection products, maintaining equipment, and supporting various crop management activities. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to the health and productivity of their crops while ensuring safety and efficiency across all operations. A strong understanding of horticulture and mechanical systems is essential, along with the ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
Duties
- Operate sprayers and other crop protection equipment accurately and efficiently to ensure proper application of pesticides and fertilisers.
- Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, including power tools and machinery, to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist with irrigation setup, adjustments, and troubleshooting to maintain appropriate water levels and distribution across fields.
- Utilise hand tools for equipment repairs, adjustments, and general maintenance tasks.
- Perform heavy lifting of supplies, equipment, or crops as required during planting, harvesting, or maintenance activities.
- Monitor crop health and growth stages, providing feedback for pest control or fertilisation schedules.
- Maintain detailed records of treatments applied, equipment usage, and field conditions to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Experience
- PA1/ PA2 qualifications preferred but training could be provided for right candidate.
- Experience using farm machinery.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, mechanical repair, or equipment maintenance is desirable.
- Interest in crop production and modern farming.
