Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Cook to prepare nutritious and appealing meals for our young children. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a strong understanding of food safety standards. Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals suitable for young children, ensuring nutritional value and presentation are appropriate for their age group
- Plan menus in accordance with dietary guidelines and nutritional requirements
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with health and safety regulations
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary to ensure continuous meal service
- Follow all food safety procedures, including proper storage, handling, and sanitation practices
- Assist with meal service, ensuring timely delivery of food to children in a friendly manner
- Record meal times, ingredients used, and any dietary restrictions or allergies for individual children
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably within a childcare or similar environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Experience with meal planning and nutritional considerations for young children
- Excellent organisational skills to manage kitchen operations efficiently
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting while maintaining attention to detail
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with staff regarding dietary needs and preferences
- Previous experience in a restaurant or catering environment is advantageous but not essential
