About the role
We’re looking for an experienced, organised Medical Secretary to join the team.
It is a busy, fast-paced role. You will need to manage competing priorities and handle a range of situations with confidence.
This is a bank position, currently 2–3 days per week.
Audio typing skills would be useful, along with a solid understanding of medical terminology.
You will need to be highly organised, able to manage multiple tasks at once and remain calm under pressure.
Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while using your own initiative to resolve issues.
Overall responsibilities and day-to-day duties
- Producing clinical correspondence for consultants from dictation, reports and patient notes
- Maintaining and updating tracking logs and systems for all correspondence
- Managing incoming and outgoing communications with patients, clinicians and external parties via phone, email and letter
- Working closely with clinical teams and bookings to support capacity planning and clinic utilisation
- Supporting the booking of patients in line with clinical outcomes, required diagnostics and agreed time frames
- Responding to consultant queries and managing expectations, escalating where needed
- Handling confidential information appropriately in line with hospital policies and when liaising with third parties
- Supporting the wider admin team with documentation for patient records
- Providing a high standard of service to patients, consultants and colleagues
- Building professional working relationships across teams
- Supporting with general administrative duties as required

Pay: £25,760.00-£27,476.00 per year
