Star Soccer Academy is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, and child-centred U9 Lead Coach to lead one of our foundation phase teams within our academy programme in Leicestershire.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a coach who is passionate about introducing young players to the game in a fun, positive, and development-focused environment. At U9 level, creating a love for football, building confidence, and developing strong technical foundations are just as important as results.
We are looking for a coach who can inspire young players, create engaging learning experiences, and help every child enjoy their football while developing their skills and understanding of the game.
The Role
As U9 Lead Coach, you will:
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate training sessions
- Lead players during weekend fixtures and festivals
- Create a positive, safe, and enjoyable learning environment
- Develop players' technical foundations and game understanding
- Encourage creativity, confidence, and decision-making
- Support the social and emotional development of young players
- Build positive relationships with players, parents, and academy staff
- Implement the academy's coaching philosophy and player development programme
Hours
- 3-5 hours per week
- Midweek evening training sessions
- Weekend matchday commitments
- Additional coaching opportunities may be available for the right candidate
Essential Requirements
- UEFA C Licence (minimum qualification)
- Experience coaching children within grassroots, academy, or development football
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Passion for working with young players and supporting their development
- Professional, reliable, and enthusiastic approach
- Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain one)
- Safeguarding Children Qualification
- Emergency First Aid in Football (or equivalent)
- Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
Desirable Requirements
- UEFA B Licence
- Experience coaching within the Foundation Phase (U7-U11)
- Experience leading an age-group team
- Understanding of long-term player development principles
- Experience working within an academy or player development environment
