Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Data/Fibre Cabling Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing data and fibre optic cabling systems, ensuring optimal network performance. Your expertise will help facilitate seamless telecommunication and network infrastructure for a diverse range of clients. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the backbone of modern communication networks.
Duties
- Install, test, and troubleshoot data cabling, fibre optic cables, and associated network infrastructure in commercial and industrial settings
- Use hand tools and electrical testing equipment to ensure proper cable termination and connectivity
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings for accurate installation
- Maintain compliance with safety standards and electrical codes during all installation activities
- Diagnose and repair issues related to Ethernet, VoIP systems, Cisco routers, Juniper devices, CCTV cameras, and other telecommunication equipment
- Conduct network installation tasks including configuring switches, routers, and related hardware
- Support the integration of computer hardware with network systems to ensure reliable operation
Experience
- Proven experience in telecommunication or network installation projects involving fibre optics and data cabling
- Strong knowledge of computer networking concepts such as Ethernet, VoIP, VLANs, and routing protocols
- Hands-on experience working with Cisco routers, Juniper devices, Avaya communication systems, CCTV surveillance equipment, and related hardware
- Electrical experience including wiring, circuit testing, and equipment repair is highly desirable
- Familiarity with schematics, technical drawings, and network diagrams is essential
- Ability to use hand tools effectively for cable termination and hardware installation
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting network issues
