The role of a Welcome and Service Assistant Manager with the National Trust is to uphold the highest of standards in the experience we give to visitors. If you’re a natural motivator, who likes to lead by example to make sure every single person feels welcome and has the best day possible, then this could be the job for you.
As part of the operations team, you’ll be reporting to the Welcome Manager and working alongside another Assistant Manager. As department leads, you'll be jointly managing a team of staff and volunteers. As a busy visitor site, Corfe is open all year round so there will be the need to work regular weekends and bank holidays as part of a rota to ensure full cover, support, leadership and guidance to the Welcome team. You'll also Duty Manage the property on a rotation basis. Availability will be discussed at the interview stage.
While a regular working week will be established, flexibility is essential, as working days may need to vary to meet business needs, particularly during peak periods and to provide cover for annual leave and other team absences.
Interview date: Thursday 20th August
What it's like to work here:You'll be representing the National Trust at one of Britain's most iconic and evocative survivors of the English Civil War, partially demolished in 1646 by the Parliamentarians. Corfe Castle is now cared for by a team that works smoothly together to ensure that our 250,000 annual visitors have a really great experience in a beautiful setting.

What you'll be doing:You’ll be making sure that the welcome every visitor receives is as special as it could be. You'll want them to have the best experience of visiting Corfe Castle. Everyone who comes here is contributing to the work of the Trust, in protecting and looking after places so that people and nature can thrive – now and into the future. Your warmth, your care, your high standards and your attention to detail can make all the difference to their day.
As Assistant Manager, you’ll directly line manage team members, providing support and guidance and helping to solve problems on a daily basis. Whilst mainly a front facing visitor role there will be some degree of behind-the-scenes requirements, aspects of cash handling, compliance and general daily operations.
Alongside leading the team in delivering a warm and welcoming visitor experience, you will play a key role in supporting our Growing Support objectives. This includes driving membership recruitment, promoting fundraising opportunities, and working with the team to achieve agreed income and visitor engagement targets. Through excellent customer service and positive conversations with visitors, you will help grow support for our cause and contribute to meeting budgeted membership and fundraising goals.
As Duty Manager, you'll be responsible on the day for the smooth running of the property during opening hours, acting as the main contact point for staff, volunteers, and customers in case of emergency, enquiry or complaint.
