About the role
We are looking for a friendly, organised and enthusiastic School Cook to join our dedicated team at On Track Education Silverstone.
You will be responsible for preparing, cooking and serving healthy, nutritious meals and snacks for our pupils while maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene, health and safety.
You will help create a welcoming dining experience and support pupils in developing positive attitudes towards healthy eating.
Where appropriate, you will also support students participating in vocational learning opportunities within the kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook and serve breakfast, lunch and snacks to a high standard.
- Maintain excellent standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.
- Manage food deliveries, stock rotation and storage.
- Monitor food temperatures and complete all required food safety records.
- Ensure kitchen equipment is cleaned and maintained.
- Control food waste and manage stock efficiently.
- Support students with work-based learning opportunities within the kitchen.
- Report accidents, hazards or maintenance issues promptly.
- Work in line with school policies and safeguarding procedures.
- Plan varied and nutritious menus that cater for individual dietary, medical, cultural and religious requirements.
- Maintain accurate allergen information and food safety documentation in line with current legislation.
- Promote healthy eating and positive food choices throughout the school community.
About You
We are looking for someone who enjoys preparing nutritious food and takes pride in maintaining a safe, welcoming kitchen environment.
Ideally, you will:
- Hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or be willing to obtain one).
- Have previous experience in a catering, school or commercial kitchen.
- Have a good understanding of food hygiene and health and safety regulations.
- Be organised and able to manage stock effectively.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Be calm, reliable and flexible.
- Enjoy working within a school environment.
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Working hours
Full-time: 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday
