About the Role
Laser Expertise is looking for a hardworking and reliable Fettler / Assembly Operative to join our growing manufacturing team.
This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for preparing fabricated components to a high standard through fettling, grinding and finishing, before assembling products in line with engineering drawings and customer specifications. You'll play a key role in ensuring our products leave the factory looking their very best.
We're looking for someone with a positive attitude, excellent attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
Key Responsibilities
- Fettle, grind, linish and finish laser cut and fabricated components.
- Remove weld spatter, sharp edges and imperfections to achieve a high-quality finish.
- Assemble fabricated components using hand and power tools.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
- Carry out visual quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process.
- Report any defects or quality concerns to the Team Leader.
- Ensure components are completed within production deadlines.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area.
- Follow all company Health & Safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
- Assist other departments when required to support production.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience using hand-held power tools such as grinders and sanders.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to read basic engineering drawings.
- Good manual dexterity.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable with a strong work ethic.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Desirable
- Previous fettling or metal finishing experience.
- Experience assembling fabricated products.
- Experience working with stainless steel, mild steel or aluminium.
- Counterbalance Forklift Licence (advantageous but not essential).
- Overhead Crane experience (advantageous).

Working Hours
40 hours per week
Rotating shift pattern - 6-2 + 2-10 rotating fortnightly
£173 monthly shift allowance
Overtime may be available depending on business requirements.
Pay: £12.71-£15.00 per hour
