Overview
We are seeking a HGV/Trailer Inspector to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance inspections (PMI) including very minor repairs and MOT inspections on heavy goods vehicles and trailers to ensure safety, reliability and compliance with industry standards. Repair lists found on PMI and MOT inspection will be passed to the main workshop for the repairs to be carried out. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail to contribute to maintaining high safety standards within our workshop. This is a light duty role and hours are negotiable for the right candidate.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive preventative maintenance inspections of HGVs and trailers in accordance with legal and company standards
- Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing bulbs/tighten bolts, grease and and fluid levels
- Carry out brake tests
- Document inspection findings accurately and report any issues requiring repair or further investigation using our online workshop software
- Assist with minor repairs or adjustments to ensure vehicles meet safety regulations before deployment
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities using our online workshop software
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to coordinate repairs and ensure timely completion of tasks
Qualifications
- Proven mechanical knowledge with experience in vehicle inspection or maintenance
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to safety protocols
- Good communication skills for accurate reporting and documentation
- Previous experience working with HGVs or trailers
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in vehicle inspection or mechanics are desirable, for example IRTEC accredited

Pay: £30,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
