organisations is looking for a Volunteer Development Coordinator to join the team overseeing our Walthamstow & Leytonstone churches. You will resource the churches’ community mission activities with trained, motivated and well-supported volunteers. Our current diverse programme of activities includes pre-school groups, games club, community living room, employment plus, well-being small groups, a busy on-site charity shop, baby bank, community wardrobe, emergency food store and ‘Beds not Floors’ project.
Key responsibilities:

Promoting and maintaining a vibrant, welcoming, and effective volunteer service through regular personalised coaching, training and supervision

Ensuring that all activities at Leytonstone and Walthamstow Salvation Army Churches have appropriate day to day volunteer support

Networking and working collaboratively with local church, voluntary and community sectors in the Borough of Waltham Forest

Maintaining an effective process for the recruitment, training, and retention of the volunteer team, including appropriate recruitment materials, role descriptions, training pathways and other resources.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

Previous experience of having successfully resourced and managed a large volunteer programme to meet programme objectives

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to make people feel welcome, establishing rapport, motivating, influencing, and effectively connecting across a range of backgrounds, experiences, and varying needs

Previous experience of successfully managing the performance of volunteers to ensure that objectives are delivered to the required quality standards and agreed time scales

The ability to organise your own workload to meet objectives.
