About the role
The Traffic Coordinator ensures the safe, compliant, and efficient movement of vehicles, plant, and people
supporting the Enabling & Earthworks scope. The role manages gate operations, haul routes, access
control, delivery sequencing, and traffic marshaling to maintain flow, minimize interface risks with earthworks
activities, and protect critical path operations across the Sizewell C project.
What you'll be doing
Traffic & Access Control
- Manage internal traffic flows on haul roads, laydown areas, and construction zones; adjust controls
for weather, ground conditions, and programme priorities.
- Collate traffic management requests from sub- contractors to advise client as and when required of
changes.
- Ensure compliance from subcontractors and CWA teams for TM requests and planning for the Main
Constrcution Area
- Direct and brief traffic marshals / banksmen to maintain safe movements around workfaces,
compounds, and pedestrian interfaces.
- Enforce one-way systems, speed limits, segregation, and exclusion zones; ensure correct signage
and barriers are in place and maintained.
Delivery Sequencing & Logistics Integration
- Sequence inbound HGVs and plant move with the Delivery Management System (DMS) to prevent
bottlenecks, work with subcontractors and CWA teams fro high volume deliveries.
- Coordinate with Rail/Import and Materials teams to align offloading slots, crane/plant availability, and
laydown capacity.
- Liaise with Earthworks supervisors to avoid clashes between haul traffic and excavation/compaction
activities.
- Support abnormal load movements, escort planning, and safe route clearances.
Planning, Briefings & Permits
- Contribute to short interval control and daily/weekly logistics coordination meetings.
- Issue daily traffic plans and shift briefings to marshals, drivers, and supervisors (including temporary
route changes and constraints).
- Check and control traffic related permit to work, plant movement plans, and lifting interface points.
- Monitor WIP areas that impact traffic (e.g., utilities work, temporary works) and implement
mitigations.
- Work with digital team to create traffic managemnt plans / flows and controls.
Compliance, Safety & Reporting
- Ensure adherence to the project’s Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards, life-saving rules,
and PPE requirements.
- Maintain records for vehicle checks, driver inductions, banksman authorisations, and competency
cards.
- Conduct point of work risk assessments and dynamic traffic risk reviews during changing conditions
Who we're looking for
CSCS card (relevant level).
- Traffic Marshal / Banksman (A73 or equivalent) — understanding and oversight.
SMSTS/SSSTS (desirable depending on responsibility scope).
- First Aid at Work (desirable).
- Full UK driving licence.
