Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and professional Front of House Team Member to join the vibrant team at Balinese House Restaurant in Brighton. This role involves delivering exceptional guest service, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and supporting the smooth operation of the restaurant. The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality, excellent communication skills, and a keen eye for detail. Previous restaurant experience is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided. Duties
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival and ensure they feel welcome throughout their visit
- Take orders accurately and efficiently, providing menu recommendations and upselling where appropriate
- Serve food and beverages with professionalism and attentiveness to guest needs
- Handle payments accurately using the POS system and process transactions promptly
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the front of house area, including tables, counters, and service stations
- Assist with food safety procedures to ensure compliance with health standards
- Support in food preparation tasks as required, including setting up stations and replenishing supplies
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely delivery of orders and guest satisfaction
- Manage guest enquiries or complaints courteously, aiming to resolve issues promptly
- Promote specials or new menu items to enhance guest experience
Skills
- Previous experience in hospitality or restaurant service is preferred but not essential; enthusiasm to learn is key
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanour
- Knowledge of food safety standards and basic food handling procedures
- Ability to perform basic maths accurately for billing purposes
- Good organisational skills with effective time management during busy periods
- Experience in serving or food preparation is advantageous; kitchen experience or culinary background is a plus
- Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with guests and team members
- Ability to upsell menu items naturally to enhance guest experience and maximise sales
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required
