We're a growing team passionate about quality craftsmanship and innovation, and we're looking for an experienced Fabrication Supervisor to lead our workshop and ensure the delivery of exceptional results for our clients.
The Role:
As a Sheet Metal Fabrication Supervisor, you'll oversee all fabrication activities within the workshop, managing a skilled team while maintaining our commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement. This leadership role combines hands-on technical expertise with team management, ensuring smooth operations from production planning through to delivery. You'll be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the fabrication process, optimising workflow, and developing our talented team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage and mentor the fabrication team, fostering a collaborative, safety-focused culture.
- Oversee all fabrication operations including press brake work, MIG and TIG welding, and component finishing.
- Ensure work is completed to specification, on time and within quality standards; conduct inspections and sign-off on finished items.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, work with technical specifications, and plan production schedules effectively.
- Maintain health and safety compliance across the workshop, carrying out risk assessments and toolbox talks.
- Manage workshop resources, equipment maintenance schedules, and material stock levels.
- Monitor team performance, identify training needs, and support continuous skill development and career progression.
- Liaise with management on production planning, capacity and any operational challenges or improvements.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills to resolve production issues quickly and maintain deadlines.
- Lead by example with attention to detail, quality-focused mindset, and commitment to operational excellence.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Fabricator with a minimum of 5 years' experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Expert-level hands-on skills with press brakes, guillotines, rollers and associated fabrication machinery.
- Advanced proficiency in MIG and TIG welding to high standards.
- Strong team leadership and people management abilities with experience motivating and developing technical teams.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with team members and management.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and meet production deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
- Counter balance forklift license essential.
- Ability to work from technical drawings and quality specifications with meticulous attention to detail.
- Right to work in the UK essential; relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Fabrication and Welding, or equivalent supervisory/leadership training) are advantageous.
