Job Summary
We are looking for a Weekend Play leader for the following hours:
1st and 3rd Sunday of the month 9.30 - 3.30pm and 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month 9.30 - 4.30pm
JOB SUMMARY:
Specifically a play leader will assist children and young people to:
- Access numerous play activities as well as therapeutic resources
- Meet new friends and have fun
- Feel understood and accepted
- Develop physically and socially
- Gain independence and build self-confidence
- Enjoy a stimulating and creative environment
- Have the freedom to explore and take risks
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In order to offer a variety of safe and accessible play activities for disabled children, their parents, siblings and friends, you will:
Offer support to parents and carers with regard to activities and resources and provide a listening ear when necessary. Take the extra steps to recognise that parents & carers may get very little support, and actions like making drinks can be significant in showing care.
All staff have a responsibility to follow all safeguarding procedures to protect our children and families.
Develop a partnership with families to build the knowledge of the child and understand their play needs
Plan and develop inclusive play
Be jointly involved in evaluations at the end of sessions.
Have responsibility for health and safety in ensuring the site is clean and any maintenance issues are reported immediately.
Support any volunteers in assisting with play
Maintain records such as daily site checks, accident & incident reports etc.
Welcome all visitors and show newcomers around
OTHER DUTIES:
- Attend relevant training
- Attend staff meetings
- Open and close the building when necessary
- Be willing to be flexible as needed with regards to working hours on occasion
Pay: £10.85-£12.71 per hour
