Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Sales Assistant to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, organisational abilities, and a passion for delivering outstanding service. We are a family run Architectural Ironmonger merchant who range from selling items from doors all the way through to Building supplies.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide exceptional service throughout their shopping experience
- Assist customers with product enquiries, offering knowledgeable advice on merchandise and promotions
- Maintain visual merchandising standards to ensure attractive product displays
- Upsell products and services to maximise sales opportunities
- Process transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system, ensuring proper phone etiquette during customer interactions
- Manage stock levels, organise stockroom organisation, and assist with inventory checks
- Support the team in achieving sales targets through effective communication and teamwork
- Handle customer complaints or queries professionally, aiming for swift resolution
- Keep the sales floor clean, organised, and welcoming at all times
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse customers
- Organised with excellent time management skills to prioritise tasks efficiently
- Basic maths skills for handling transactions and stock counts
- Experience in merchandising or retail sales is preferred but not essential; training will be provided
- Demonstrated organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to demonstrate good phone etiquette when interacting via telephone or emails
- Proven ability to upsell products and enhance customer experience through effective communication

Wage can be negotiated depending on experience.
Monday to Thursday's 8-5pm and Friday 8-4pm.
