Are you a dependable, practical person who takes pride in keeping things running smoothly? We’re looking for an experienced Property Caretaker to join us at two well-regarded residential buildings in the heart of Leeds City Centre.
This is a self-employed position offering 3–4 hours per day, Monday to Friday. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their day, works well independently and has a genuine hands-on approach to property care and maintenance.
The Role
You’ll be the eyes and ears on the ground, covering everything from building inspections and maintenance to communal cleaning, resident relations and security. No two days will be exactly the same.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Conducting daily inspections of both buildings, checking fire exits, common areas and the building exterior
- Undertaking basic maintenance tasks to a good standard – replacing bulbs, touch-up painting, lubricating doors and locks, and general repairs as required
- Keeping communal areas, the car park and bin store clean and presentable
- Grounds maintenance including litter picking, clearing leaves and trimming hedges
- Welcoming residents and visitors, managing access for tradespeople and handling post and deliveries
- Monitoring site security and professionally challenging anyone who shouldn’t be on the premises
- Carrying out weekly fire alarm and emergency lighting checks
- Monitoring pest control and reporting any issues
- Reporting any larger defects or maintenance issues to our Head Office team
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in basic property maintenance, with the ability to carry out work to a consistently good standard
- A reliable, hard-working attitude with a keen eye for detail
- Good people skills – you’ll be the face of the building for residents and visitors
- Physically fit and happy to carry out manual tasks including cleaning and working at height
- Able to work independently and use your initiative
- Experience with grounds maintenance equipment (hedge trimmers, leaf blowers) is a bonus
