About Goodies
Goodies is a successful, family-owned farm shop and food destination with a strong reputation for quality food, local produce and warm, friendly service.
Our large and busy restaurant seats approximately 120 customers indoors, with additional outdoor seating for more than 60 guests. We serve breakfast, lunch, Sunday roasts, afternoon tea, cakes and drinks, welcoming a high volume of customers throughout the week. We also do monthly themed evening events.
We are now looking for an experienced Restaurant Manager who has the confidence and ability to lead a restaurant of this size. This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine impact within an independent business where your ideas and experience will be valued.
The Role
As Restaurant Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership, organisation and commercial performance of our entire front-of-house operation.
You will lead the team from the front and ensure that a large restaurant operates smoothly during busy services. You will work closely with the Head Chef and General manager to maintain excellent standards, develop the team and improve sales, labour efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all front-of-house operations during service.
- Ensure the restaurant is fully prepared to welcome high volumes of customers.
- Recruit, train, motivate and develop the front-of-house team.
- Conduct team briefings and provide regular coaching and feedback.
- Plan and manage staff rotas to ensure suitable coverage while controlling labour costs.
- Maintain excellent standards of customer service, cleanliness and presentation.
- Manage reservations, walk-ins, table allocation and customer flow efficiently.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure clear communication and timely service.
- Monitor customer feedback and respond professionally to complaints or suggestions.
- Set clear performance expectations and conduct staff appraisals.
- Monitor sales, labour costs, budgets and other key performance indicators.
- Identify opportunities to increase average customer spend and encourage repeat visits.
- Help develop seasonal menus, promotions, service improvements and customer offers.
- Ensure till systems, cash handling and payment procedures are followed accurately.
- Maintain compliance with licensing, food safety, allergen and health and safety requirements.
- Provide regular performance updates to the Managing Director.
- Maintain a positive, professional and supportive working environment.
About You
We are looking for a confident and experienced hospitality manager who combines strong people leadership with excellent commercial awareness.
You should have:
- Previous experience as a Restaurant Manager, Front-of-House Manager or in a similar hospitality management position.
- Experience managing a large or high-volume restaurant operation.
- Experience leading and developing a sizeable customer-facing team.
- A genuine passion for hospitality and delivering excellent customer service.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- The ability to remain calm, approachable and professional during busy services.
- Experience managing rotas, labour costs and operational targets.
- An understanding of UK licensing, food safety and allergen requirements.
- Experience using booking and EPOS systems.
- Competence in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- The confidence to make decisions, solve problems and lead by example.
- The physical ability to remain on your feet throughout busy services.
- Flexibility to work weekends and occasional evenings when required.
