At ROCOL, a part of ITW, we are looking for a Production (Grease Cell) Operative to join our Factory Team, based near Leeds.
This is a permanent role, located on site in our Factory in Swillington, near Garforth, Leeds, offering a generous salary and range of benefits.

About the Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, this role is based in our Grease Cell area of our factory. You’ll be working as part of a team, being responsible for the manufacturing of our grease products. This includes ensuring all our blends are made, tested, and filled precisely to specification in line with our ROCOL quality and safety standards.
Key responsibilities:
- Blending raw materials (powders and liquids) to create our grease products.
- Ensuring products are made right first time to exact specifications.
- Carrying out in-process and final product testing, working with our Lab Team to ensure products meet our quality standards.
- Measuring and filling finished product into a range of pack sizes.
- Following blend sheet instructions and processes, including adhering to health and safety regulations and using PPE as supplied and instructed.
- Completing manual paperwork on time with close attention to detail, including recording checks and results as part of the manufacturing process.
- Safe use of Forklift Trucks (Counterbalance) as part of the blending process and to move raw materials and finished goods.
- Maintaining high standards of health and safety, quality and housekeeping, including following company procedures, COSHH and risk assessments.
- Carrying out safety checks and inspections on equipment and machinery before use, including performing routine maintenance (e.g. lubricating machine parts).
- Ensuring blends and finished product are labelled with correct information, including hazard classification, batch number and date of manufacture (DOM).
- Working as a team to ensure all production, order deadlines and production plans are met in line with expectations and costs.
Working Pattern
This role is 35 hours a week, based on site, with the following set shift pattern:
Mon – Thursdays: 7:30am – 3:45pm
Fridays: 7:30am – 11:30am
There is no weekend work with this role, but may be opportunities for occasional optional overtime work throughout the year.
Skills & Experience
Whilst we provide training for the role, if you’re safety-conscious, work well as part of a team and have the below experience and skills, we’d love to hear from you:
- At least 1 year’s previous experience working in a grease manufacturing, soap manufacturing, blending or similar process-production type environment.
- FLT license Counterbalance (full preferred)
- Experience of making, testing, and filling product to specification.
- Physically able to and comfortable regularly lifting up to 20kg.
- Comfortable working with a range of raw materials (powders, liquids) and using PPE as required
- Good eye for detail, including being able to fill in records and paperwork accurately, with a right-first-time attitude.
- Target driven and can work to deadlines
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated
- Proactive and can use own initiative as well as working as part of a team
Desirable
- Background in industrial lubricant, chemical or process manufacturing
- Familiarity with batch or quality control systems
- Previous experience in handling hazardous materials
- Basic IT Microsoft office skills

Salary: £26,270 (£14.43 per hour), increasing to £30,108 (£16.54 per hour) following completion of Development Plan, which can usually take between 9 – 12 months to complete
