We are recruiting Clinical Support Workers to provide a dedicated phlebotomy, cannulation and ECG service within our busy Emergency Department.
This exciting role combines advanced clinical support skills with hands-on patient care, supporting clinicians to deliver timely assessment, diagnosis and treatment.
Working as part of the multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to patient safety, improve patient flow and help deliver an excellent patient experience.
We are looking for caring, motivated and reliable individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
Applicants should hold a Level 3 healthcare qualification (or equivalent) and have experience working in a healthcare setting. Previous experience in emergency, urgent or acute care is desirable. Training and competency support will be provided.
Working as part of the Emergency Department multidisciplinary team, the Clinical Support Worker will provide a dedicated phlebotomy, cannulation and ECG service to support the timely assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Key responsibilities include:
Undertaking venepuncture, peripheral cannulation and 12-lead ECGs in line with Trust policies and competency frameworks.
Assisting with patient assessment by performing and recording clinical observations.
Supporting nurses and doctors to deliver safe, effective and compassionate patient care.
Recognising and escalating concerns relating to patient deterioration or changes in condition.
Ensuring specimens are correctly labelled, handled and transported.
Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation.
Contributing to patient flow by supporting rapid assessment, investigation and treatment pathways.
Maintaining clinical equipment and stock levels within the department.
Working within infection prevention, safeguarding and clinical governance standards at all times.
Participating in training, competency assessment and continuous professional development.

Undertake venepuncture, peripheral cannulation and 12-lead ECGs as delegated by a Registered Nurse and in accordance with Trust policies and competency frameworks.
Support the assessment and monitoring of patients by undertaking and recording routine clinical observations, escalating concerns appropriately.
Obtain and appropriately handle clinical specimens for laboratory testing.
Prepare and support patients undergoing investigations, treatments and procedures, providing reassurance and maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
Assist with patient movement, transfer and positioning in accordance with mandatory training and individual patient handling plans.
Support nurses and clinicians in delivering safe, effective and compassionate care within a busy Emergency Department environment.
Maintain clinical stock levels, equipment and the general environment to ensure the department remains safe and operational.
Maintain accurate patient documentation and comply with infection prevention, safeguarding and clinical governance requirements
