We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on Head Chef to take the lead in our Burntwood Bar Kitchen serving quality food in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
We’re looking for a strong leader who will be in the kitchen cooking alongside the team, while taking responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen.
The Role
As Head Chef, you’ll combine strong managerial skills with a genuine passion for cooking and delivering consistently great food.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, motivating and managing the kitchen team
- Being hands-on with food preparation, cooking and service
- Maintaining consistently high standards of food quality and presentation
- Managing busy services and ensuring the kitchen runs efficiently
- Training and developing kitchen team members
- Day-to-day organisation of the team
- Stock control, ordering and reducing wastage
- Monitoring food costs and helping maintain healthy margins
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and health & safety standards
- Working closely with the wider management team
- Helping develop menus, specials and new ideas
- Creating a positive, organised and professional kitchen environment
What We Offer
- No split shifts – typically 8–9 hour straight shifts
- Full-time, permanent position
- A key role with real responsibility and ownership of the kitchen
- The opportunity to lead and develop your own team
- An established venue with a busy food operation
- A working environment where the Head Chef is part of the team, not just managing from the sidelines
Who We’re Looking For
We need someone who is equally comfortable leading from the front and getting stuck in. You’ll ideally have previous experience as a Head Chef or Kitchen Manager, although we would also consider a strong Sous Chef who is ready to take the next step.
You should have:
- Strong leadership and people-management skills
- Excellent cooking and kitchen skills
- Experience working in a busy kitchen environment
- A good understanding of food costs, stock management and wastage
- Strong organisation and communication skills
- High standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
- The ability to remain calm and lead effectively during busy services
- A reliable, positive and hands-on attitude
If you’re an experienced chef who enjoys leading a team but still loves being in the kitchen and cooking, we’d love to hear from you.
