Business Support within a Day Centre Setting
We're recruiting a Business Support Officer to provide reception, front-of-house, and administrative support at Welford Day Centre. This is a key role focused on providing a professional and welcoming reception service, managing visitor and staff access, handling telephone enquiries, and supporting routine administrative processes.
This position suits someone reliable, professional, and confident in reception or administrative duties, with good communication and customer service skills and the ability to work independently following initial training.
About the Role:
As a Business Support Officer, you'll provide high-quality reception and administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the day centre and that site procedures are followed effectively.
What you'll be doing:
- Providing reception and front-of-house support at Welford Day Centre
- Managing the entry and exit of visitors and staff using the controlled-access door system
- Answering and managing incoming telephone calls professionally
- Using Microsoft Word, Excel and Teams for routine administrative tasks
- Completing initial training before working independently on reception
- Following site procedures and maintaining a professional and welcoming reception service
- Managing reception duties responsibly and maintaining a professional approach
- Undertaking other reasonable duties appropriate to the role
What We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone experienced, reliable, and professional, with previous experience in reception, administration, or business support and the confidence to manage reception duties independently following training.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in a reception, administration or business support role
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Teams
- Ability to work independently and manage reception duties responsibly
- A professional and reliable approach to work
- Ability to maintain a smart-casual professional appearance
Desirable:
- Experience working in a public-sector or local authority environment
- Previous experience in a reception or front-of-house setting with controlled access

This is initially a supported role with training provided. Following training, the postholder will work independently on reception, with the Senior Business Support Officer available on site when required.
