Job Description:
Your new role
We're looking for a proactive and organised Fleet Planner to join our Fleet Delivery Team, helping to ensure our trains are maintained safely, efficiently and ready to deliver for our customers.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with maintenance planning, production planning or scheduling experience who enjoys solving problems, coordinating multiple priorities and working in a fast-paced operational environment. While rail experience would be beneficial, we welcome applications from candidates working in sectors such as manufacturing, aviation, automotive, defence, logistics, heavy industry, facilities management or other maintenance-led environments.
Based within our operational planning team, you'll play a key role in developing maintenance plans, coordinating resources, managing workloads and ensuring that maintenance activities are delivered effectively across the fleet.
This role operates on a shift pattern covering early shifts, late shifts and weekends, providing support to a 24/7 operational environment.
Some key responsibilities
Develop and maintain short, medium and long-term maintenance plans.
Coordinate maintenance activities and schedules to ensure fleet availability targets are achieved.
Work closely with engineering, supply chain and operational teams to align resources and maintenance requirements.
Monitor maintenance backlogs, defects and emerging issues, helping to minimise reactive work and improve reliability.
Adapt maintenance plans in response to operational changes, incidents and business priorities.
Support the planning and delivery of fleet modifications, inspections and technical investigations.
Analyse maintenance data and system information to support effective decision-making.
Participate in daily operational reviews, handovers and planning discussions.
Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication and delivery of plans.
Produce reports, updates and planning information as required.
About you
We're interested in hearing from candidates who have experience planning, scheduling or coordinating maintenance activities within a complex operational environment.
You'll be someone who can balance competing priorities, communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders and remain calm under pressure.
Ideally, you'll have:
Experience in maintenance planning, production planning, scheduling or resource planning.
Experience working within engineering, manufacturing, transport, logistics, aviation, automotive or similar industries.
Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
The ability to analyse information and make informed decisions.
Experience using maintenance management, planning or enterprise systems such as SAP, Maximo or similar.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable, but not essential:
Engineering qualifications such as an HNC or equivalent.
Vocational engineering qualifications.
Lean, Continuous Improvement or Six Sigma experience.
Previous experience within the rail industry.
If you have the planning experience and the right mindset, we'd love to hear from you, even if your background is outside of rail.
