Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic culinary team. The successful candidate will support chefs and kitchen staff by handling cleaning duties and assisting with basic food preparation tasks, contributing to a hygienic and well-functioning kitchen space. Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality setting is advantageous but not mandatory, as training will be provided. Duties
- Responsible for cleaning and sanitising kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces to uphold health and safety standards
- Assisting with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, and organising ingredients under supervision
- Ensuring all areas of the kitchen are kept tidy and organised throughout the shift
- Collecting and disposing of waste materials in accordance with hygiene regulations
- Supporting chefs during busy service periods by fetching ingredients or equipment as needed
- Maintaining stock levels of cleaning supplies and notifying management when supplies need replenishing
- Adhering strictly to health and safety protocols at all times to prevent accidents or contamination
Qualifications
- Prior experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality environments such as restaurants, hotels, or catering services is desirable but not essential
- Knowledge of kitchen safety and hygiene standards
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Flexibility to work during busy service hours, including evenings and weekends if required
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills within a fast-paced environment
