Job Summary
At Wylie's Coffee, we are a small team of baristas with one goal: to create a friendly and welcoming neighbourhood coffee shop that invites our customers to slow down and take five minutes out of their day, accompanied by a really great coffee.
We are looking for an experienced speciality coffee barista to step up into a supervisory role at our Battersea Rise shop. You'll be behind the bar making great coffee every shift, while also taking day-to-day ownership of how the shop runs - leading the team, upholding our standards, and acting as the first point of contact when the owners aren't on-site. It's a great next step for someone who wants more responsibility and a real say in how a site is run, without stepping away from the coffee itself.
The Role Requires:
- A genuine love of hospitality, customer interaction and delivering excellent service
- Preparing espresso, filter coffee and other hot beverages to a consistently high standard
- Producing excellent free-pour latte art
- Dialling in and tasting new coffees (espresso and filter), with precise and consistent extraction for every drink
- Serving customers and operating the till accurately
- Leading the barista team on shift - setting the tone for service, teamwork and professionalism
- Assigning stations, managing break times, and keeping service flowing smoothly
- Supporting and guiding baristas during service, and helping induct new starters
- Opening and closing the shop in line with procedures
- Taking ownership of weekly stock checks, ordering, and flagging equipment or supplier issues
- Ensuring the site remains compliant with health & safety and food safety requirements
- Acting as the main point of contact on-site when the owners aren't around
We Would Love You To:
- Be passionate about hospitality and the coffee industry
- Have at least 2 years' experience working as a barista in speciality coffee
- Have some experience leading a shift or supervising a small team
- Be a confident, natural leader who brings the best out of the people around you
- Be intuitive, think quickly on your feet and remain calm during busy or challenging periods
- Build genuine rapport with our local community
- Be eager to deepen your knowledge and become an expert in all things coffee
