Overview:
Petpals UK Ltd is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join our small, pet-friendly head office team in Andover, Hampshire. As the UK’s longest-established multi-service pet care provider since 2001, Petpals supports a network of over 50 franchisees across the country. In this role, you'll play a key part in enabling the success of our nationwide network. Due to the rural location of the office, candidates should be prepared to work independently and manage periods where they may be working alone.
JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
The efficient management of the day-to-day accounting functions within a small company including, but not limited to, payables, receivables, VAT returns, bank reconciliations, cash flow monitoring and QuickBooks support to the network.
Financial
- Franchisee royalty logging, invoicing and reporting.
- Online bank payments and management of standing orders and direct debits.
- Ensure VAT is calculated correctly and quarterly returns are submitted and paid on time.
- Prepare financial records at year-end and work with the company’s accountant to ensure accurate statutory reporting.
- Monitoring cash flow.
- Prepare complex linked spreadsheets for each new financial year.
- Full management of Quickbooks Online financial records, accurately recording all payments and receipts, posting monthly adjustments, such as accruals and prepayments.
- Ensure good credit control procedures.
- Help to maintain and improve overhead costs to enhance profitability.
- Undertake monthly bank, credit card and control account reconciliations.
- Ensuring statutory compliance to HMRC.
- Produce monthly Excel spreadsheet reports and charts to Senior Management Team and franchisees.
- Provide ad hoc management information to Director.
- Provide payroll information to payroll provider, pay staff, HMRC and pension provider.
- Provide comprehensive Quickbooks support to all franchisees.
- Providing Quickbooks Online training for new franchisees.
Administration
- First point of contact for telephone calls and ensuring smooth co-ordination of required information and accurate record keeping.
- As a small team, we are all required to pitch in, therefore you will be expected to assist with general office duties where required.
- Assisting in maintaining a clean, comfortable, safe and secure office environment.
General
- To provide office cover so that there is always a member of staff working.
- Compulsory attendance at the Annual Conference every January: Friday to Sunday stayover. 2 days holiday is given in lieu of these days.
- Will be required to work a certain number of days over Christmas/New Year – the office does not shut down for this period.
Hours of Work
- 4 full days - 9am-5pm = 28 hours per week.
Skills and Qualifications – Essential
- Advanced Quickbooks Online experience – you will be required to complete a QB Pro Advisor Course
- Advanced Excel using multiple linked spreadsheets to produce charts and pivot tables
- Methodical nature with an acute attention to detail
- Helpful and a willingness to go the extra mile in helping others
- Loyalty, honesty and a friendly nature are prerequisites
Summary
