We are seeking a full time Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) to join our team.
- Please note : You will need to be a registered, qualified and experienced Social Worker. You must have a thorough knowledge of legislation and statutory guidance in relation to safeguarding and child protection and experience of working closely with a wide range of partner agencies.
The role
This role includes providing advice and guidance to employers and voluntary organisations on how to deal effectively with allegations in relation to people who work with children. Also, there will be regular liaison with the police, children’s social care and others such as regulatory bodies to monitor the progress of allegation cases and to ensure that children are safeguarded.
You will be responsible for chairing multi-agency meetings and ensuring that allegations are dealt with as quickly as possible, consistent with a thorough and fair process.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a dynamic, motivated, and experienced professional who is:
- A qualified social worker registered with Social Work England
- Able to demonstrate significant post‑qualifying experience in statutory children’s social care
- Skilled in working closely with safeguarding, reviewing, and LADO services
- Confident in chairing complex meetings, managing conflict, and producing clear, proportionate action plans
You will bring strong professional judgement, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to improving outcomes for children.
