SGS Gases Ltd is a family-run gas supplier with a small, friendly team. We're looking for a reliable, hard-working Warehouse Assistant to help keep our warehouse and cylinder operations running smoothly.
This is a hands-on, physical role. No two days are exactly the same, and you'll be involved in everything from preparing customer orders to checking in returned cylinders. There is also the opportunity to learn cylinder filling across a range of gases for the right person.
Main Duties
- Checking in returned gas cylinders and inspecting them for damage.
- Picking and packing customer orders (gas cylinders and associated products).
- Cleaning, maintaining and preparing cylinders for reuse.
- Assisting with cylinder filling (full training provided where required).
- Loading and unloading vehicles.
- General warehouse duties and keeping the yard and warehouse clean and organised.
- Occasional forklift operation (training can be provided if required).
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will be:
- Hard-working and dependable.
- Comfortable with manual, physical work.
- Health and safety conscious.
- Able to work as part of a small team and use their own initiative.
- Experienced in a warehouse or similar environment (preferred but not essential).
- Forklift experience is helpful but not essential.
Please Note
This role involves working outdoors at times, whatever the weather, so you'll need to be happy working in all conditions.
It is also a physically demanding role involving regular manual handling. Gas cylinders vary considerably in size and weight, typically from around 20kg up to 70kg and above. While the largest cylinders are not handled constantly and appropriate lifting equipment and safe handling procedures are used, you should be comfortable with regular heavy lifting as part of your day-to-day work.
What We Offer
- A permanent role with a well-established family business.
- Company performance bonus scheme
- Full training where needed.
- A varied role with the opportunity to learn new skills, including cylinder filling.
- A friendly, supportive working environment where everyone pulls together.
If you're looking for a practical, active job within a small team where your work makes a real difference, we'd like to hear from you.
