Pumpkin Patch are looking for an apprentice to join our outstanding day nursery in Steyning, with kindness and high-quality care with the children at the centre of everything we do. We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and have a passion for outdoor learning. Our forest and beach school programmes provide an exciting experience for our children which all staff have a chance to take part in.
Experience in childcare is desirable for this role, however as an apprentice we are dedicated to training and upskilling staff to be the best they can be. We are looking for kind-natured, caring and hardworking apprentices that can bring exciting new learning opportunities for the children.
Main terms and conditions
· Minimum wage for your age
· 40 hours per week inclusive of paid breaks and 5 hours study time each week (our core opening hours are 7:30am to 6:30pm). We are open to part-time apprenticeships.
·Fixed term contract of 24 months. Apprenticeship can be completed within 1 year and 1 day at the earliest. Contract can then be changed if a role is available. Ideally, apprentices will progress through the company once qualified.
Roles and responsibilities
· To create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all children
· To provide and maintain a high-quality, stimulating learning environment for all children, following the Reggio Emilia approach
· To be vigilant and protect children from harm or abuse, reporting any concerns immediately in accordance with policies
· To develop genuine bonds with your key children and support colleagues to sensitively fulfil their key person responsibilities
· To provide feedback and work in partnership with key parents/carers, building and maintaining relationships that encourage trust, open communication, and involvement in nursery life
