Turntable Trader LTD is a growing London-based business specialising in buying, repairing, refurbishing and selling pre-owned professional DJ and audio equipment.
We work extensively with CDJs, DJ mixers, turntables, controllers and other professional audio equipment from brands such as Pioneer DJ, Technics, Allen & Heath and others.
We’re looking for a practical and technically capable Electronics Repair Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys fault-finding, electronics repair and understanding how equipment works at component and PCB level.
You’ll be working hands-on with professional DJ equipment every day, diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs and helping us return equipment to a high standard before resale.
Role Overview
Your main responsibility will be diagnosing, repairing, testing and refurbishing DJ and professional audio equipment.
We’re particularly interested in someone with strong fault-finding ability. We don't just need someone who can replace obvious broken parts — we want someone who can investigate a fault, identify its cause and work methodically towards a repair.
Depending on your experience, this could include everything from mechanical repairs and replacing faders or switches through to PCB-level diagnostics and component-level electronic repairs.
You'll also occasionally support the shop when required, including demonstrating equipment and speaking with customers.
Key ResponsibilitiesElectronics Diagnostics & Fault Finding
- Systematically diagnosing faults in DJ and professional audio equipment
- Identifying electrical, electronic and mechanical faults
- PCB-level fault finding and repair
- Testing circuits, components, voltages and signal paths
- Using multimeters and other electronic test equipment confidently
- Diagnosing power supply, audio, control and communication faults
- Tracing intermittent faults rather than simply replacing suspected parts
- Identifying failed or out-of-spec electronic components
- Reading and understanding circuit diagrams, schematics and service documentation where available
- Working logically from symptoms to root cause
- Documenting faults and repairs where required
PCB Repair & Soldering
- Through-hole and SMD soldering/rework
- Removing and replacing damaged or failed PCB components
- Repairing damaged pads, traces and connectors where appropriate
- Replacing ICs, capacitors, resistors, diodes, transistors, regulators, switches and connectors
- Inspecting PCBs for corrosion, liquid damage, cracked joints, burnt components and physical damage
- Carrying out clean, reliable soldering work to a professional standard
- Using appropriate soldering, desoldering and rework equipment
DJ Equipment Repair & Refurbishment
- Repairing CDJs, DJ mixers, turntables and other professional audio equipment
- Replacing buttons, tact switches, potentiometers, encoders, faders, displays, connectors and other components
- Repairing mechanical assemblies and controls
- Cleaning and servicing equipment internally and externally
- Restoring used equipment to a high standard
- Testing all functions thoroughly before and after repairs
- Identifying additional faults during inspection and testing
- Carrying out preventative servicing where appropriate
Workshop & Quality Control
- Testing repaired and refurbished equipment before it is approved for sale
- Ensuring repairs are reliable rather than temporary fixes
- Keeping the electronics workshop organised and maintaining tools correctly
- Managing removed parts and replacement components
- Helping develop efficient repair and testing procedures
- Maintaining a high standard of workmanship and attention to detail
Shop & Customer Support
Although this is primarily a technical role, you'll occasionally help with the day-to-day running of the shop.
This may include:
- Greeting customers
- Demonstrating CDJs, mixers, turntables and other equipment
- Answering basic technical questions
- Testing equipment with customers
- Preparing repaired equipment for collection
- Packing orders
- Helping keep the shop and workshop organised and presentable
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is naturally good at problem-solving and fault-finding.
Ideally, you'll have experience with several of the following:
- Electronics fault finding
- PCB-level diagnostics and repair
- Component-level electronics repair
- Confident soldering and desoldering
- SMD and through-hole component replacement
- Using a digital multimeter
- Using bench power supplies, oscilloscopes, signal generators or similar diagnostic equipment
- Reading circuit diagrams and electronic schematics
- Understanding basic analogue and digital electronics
- Audio signal-path troubleshooting
- Power supply diagnostics
- Mechanical fault finding
- Repairing consumer, professional audio or electronic equipment
Previous experience specifically repairing DJ equipment is highly desirable but not essential if you already have strong electronics repair and fault-finding skills.
You might have experience repairing audio equipment, amplifiers, musical equipment, computers, games consoles, industrial electronics, consumer electronics or similar devices.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who doesn't just swap parts — you should enjoy working out why something isn't working and finding the actual fault.
