Blackwell Meadows is a thriving sports and events venue, home to Darlington Rugby Football Club, Darlington Football Club, Padel Project UK & Darlington Young Bulls. Throughout the season we welcome thousands of supporters, hospitality guests and visitors to our matchdays and events, and we're looking for enthusiastic people to help us deliver an outstanding customer experience.
We're building a dedicated matchday Food & Beverage team to work across our catering and hospitality operation during the football and rugby season.
The Role
As a Food & Beverage Assistant, you'll play an important role in delivering excellent food, drinks and customer service on busy matchdays and events. No two shifts are the same, and you'll work across different areas of our operation depending on business needs.
This is a fast-paced role where teamwork, reliability and a positive attitude are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing, cooking and presenting food to an excellent standard.
- Working across our Pizza Hut, food huts, food pass and bar.
- Serving customers quickly and professionally in busy catering outlets.
- Providing table service within our hospitality suites when required.
- Operating tills and handling cash and card transactions.
- Preparing drinks and serving customers behind the bar (where age appropriate).
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene, cleanliness and health & safety standards.
- Restocking food, drinks and consumables throughout service.
- Supporting colleagues to ensure smooth, efficient service during busy periods.
- Assisting with setting up before service and cleaning down after each shift.
- Helping to resolve customer queries professionally and efficiently.
- Representing Blackwell Meadows in a professional and friendly manner at all times.
Working Hours
This is a seasonal role running from July through to May with the occasional shifts through our off season , in line with the football and rugby season.
The majority of shifts will be:
- Tuesday evenings 4pm/ 5pm to 10pm / 11pm (Standard but may vary)
- Saturdays 11am/ 12pm to 6pm /7pm (our busiest matchday)
- Additional shifts are regularly available on Friday and Saturday evenings, Sundays for rugby, events and functions.
Shift start and finish times will vary depending on fixture schedules and events. Flexibility is essential, and team members may occasionally be asked to stay beyond their scheduled finish time to help complete service.

Previous experience in hospitality, catering or bar work is an advantage but is not essential. Full training will be provided.

Pay: £8.00-£12.71 per hour
