About the role
Balfour Beatty's Asset & Technology Solutions business is looking for a Technology Development Engineer to join our CCTV and Security team. Based in Derby, with travel across England and wider UK project locations, this role offers an exciting opportunity to support the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of innovative security technology solutions that protect our people, projects and assets.
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for supporting the performance, reliability and availability of fixed, temporary and rapid deployment security systems across a variety of operational environments. Working closely with site teams, operational managers and stakeholders, you will help ensure our security technology assets continue to meet the needs of the business while supporting safe and efficient project delivery.

What you'll be doing
- Developing, maintaining and upgrading fixed, temporary and mobile CCTV and security systems.
- Supporting the development of current and future security technologies to meet operational requirements.
- Attending site visits to understand customer needs and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assisting with the deployment, collection, movement and maintenance of security technology assets and equipment.
- Ensuring security systems remain operational, reliable and fit for purpose.
- Providing technical support to site teams and stakeholders to resolve issues and improve system performance.
- Working collaboratively with operational teams, suppliers and contractors to deliver effective security solutions.
- Supporting high standards of safety, compliance and security across all activities.
- Keeping up to date with industry developments, standards and best practice across CCTV, access control, intruder alarms and related security technologies.
Who we're looking for
We're seeking a motivated and technically minded individual who is passionate about security technology and enjoys solving problems in a fast-paced operational environment.
You will ideally have:
- Experience working with IP CCTV systems and associated security technologies.
- A relevant qualification in CCTV, electronic security systems or a related discipline.
- Experience working within a BAFE, SSAIB or NSI accredited environment.
- A strong understanding of current technical standards, regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
- Knowledge of intruder alarms, access control, door entry and associated security systems.
- Experience maintaining, developing or upgrading fixed, temporary or mobile security systems.
- Strong practical problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive and flexible approach, with a willingness to travel to sites across England and the UK when required.
- A full UK driving licence.
