Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Early Years SendCo to support our early childhood education team. The successful candidate will assist in implementing specialised programmes for children with additional needs, ensuring a nurturing and inclusive environment. This role offers an opportunity to work closely with children, staff, and families to promote developmental progress through tailored activities and interventions. The SendCo will play a vital part in fostering a positive learning atmosphere, supporting behaviour management strategies, and contributing to the overall success of our early years provision.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and delivering personalised learning programmes for children with special educational needs, including speech therapy and 1:1 support work.
- Support the implementation of behaviour management plans.
- Collaborate with the Nursery Management team and staff to adapt activities to meet individual needs.
- Engage actively with children during play and learning activities.
- Support communication with parents and carers regarding children's progress.
- Contribute to the organisation of resources and materials for inclusive learning environments.
- Proofread educational materials and assist in creating engaging content for children’s activities.
- Mentor staff, providing guidance on early childhood education best practices.
- Assist in monitoring children's progress through observations, assessments, and record keeping.
Requirements
- Proven experience working with children within early childhood education settings, including preschool or toddler care.
- Knowledge of special education needs (SEN).
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with children, parents, colleagues, and external professionals.
- Experience in behaviour management strategies tailored for young children.
- Ability to proofread educational content accurately and efficiently.
- Relevant qualifications in early childhood education.
- Passionate about working with young children and committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment that supports diverse needs.
