Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our educational team. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and students to provide tailored support, fostering an inclusive learning environment. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about working with children, particularly those with special educational needs, including autism and other disabilities. The Learning Support Assistant will play a vital role in helping students achieve their full potential through personalised assistance and mentoring.
Responsibilities
- Support teachers in delivering lesson plans and classroom activities, ensuring all students are engaged and included.
- Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring to students requiring additional help, particularly those with special educational needs.
- Assist students with disabilities or behavioural challenges, including those on the autism spectrum, to access the curriculum effectively.
- Foster a positive and nurturing environment that encourages student confidence and independence.
- Monitor student progress and behaviour, reporting any concerns to teaching staff promptly.
- Support students during breaks, lunch times, and extracurricular activities to promote social interaction and development.
- Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual student needs where necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding policies at all times.
Qualifications
- Experience or training in special education or working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to work effectively with children in an educational setting.
- Strong communication skills, capable of building rapport with students, teachers, and parents.
- Previous experience in tutoring or mentoring is advantageous.
- Knowledge of working with individuals on the autism spectrum is beneficial but not essential; willingness to learn is important.
