Heritage Painter and Decorator (Self-employed Subcontractor)

We are a small business based in the Dorking area, covering Surrey and West Sussex, and we are looking for an experienced time-served decorator to join us on a self-employed subcontractor basis.
This role is being re-advertised due to continued demand, and we are specifically looking for someone who meets the experience and skill level required.
Essential requirements
- Must be a proper time-served painter and decorator
- 10 years plus experience in professional decorating
- Strong background in exterior decorating, this is a specialist area for our business
- Able to work independently and manage your own workload without supervision
- Based in Surrey or West Sussex, or within easy reach of the Dorking area
- Own van essential, in good working order and presented professionally
- Own tools and ladders required for professional decorating work
Highly desirable
- Experience using HVLP spraying for joinery, this would be a massive advantage
- Heritage decorating experience preferred
About the role
We specialise in high quality decorating work, with a particular focus on exterior decorating and heritage properties. You will be expected to deliver an excellent standard of finish, work professionally on site, and take pride in your preparation and workmanship.
This is a hands-on role for someone confident working on their own, maintaining high standards, and representing the business well with clients.
Key duties
- Carry out thorough preparation including filling, sanding, repairs and priming
- Complete exterior decorating work to a high professional standard
- Undertake painting and decorating work carefully in heritage and period properties
- Protect surrounding areas and existing finishes
- Keep work areas tidy and safe at all times
- Communicate professionally with clients when needed
- Complete work to agreed deadlines and specifications

Pay
- Earning potential of £1,000 to £1,450 per week
- Based on experience, productivity, and type of work undertaken
