About the Role
We are looking for a motivated, reliable, and practical Workshop Assistant to join our busy signage team at Herts Signs & Graphics. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in their work, turns up on time, and is genuinely keen to build a career in the signage and graphics industry.
For the right person, there is a clear pathway to becoming a trained installer, with opportunities to work on client sites across the region and develop specialist skills in vinyl application and signage production.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically active role. You must be comfortable with manual handling, lifting, standing for extended periods, and working at pace in a busy workshop environment. If you are looking for a sedentary or light duties role, this is not the right fit.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the production and assembly of a variety of signage including vinyl graphics, internal/external signs, and vehicle graphics
- Prepare materials including cutting, laminating, mounting, and stripping graphics from vehicles
- Operate workshop tools and equipment safely — full training will be provided
- Help with packing, quality checks, and preparing orders for installation or delivery
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop at all times
- Support installers on site when required
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times
Skills & Experience
Preferred but not essential:
- Experience in signage, print, or a similar workshop or trade environment
- Basic understanding of vinyl application or print finishing
- Good practical hands and attention to detail
- Ability to work accurately under deadlines
- Full UK driving licence (preferred — useful for deliveries and site support)
Essential:

- Willingness to learn, take direction, and graft
- Good team player with a positive attitude
- Located within a reasonable commute of Welwyn Garden City AL7 1AD

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm (30 min break)
