Healthcare Assistant (HCA) – Complex Paediatric Care (2:1 Support)
Location: Cambridgeshire Area
Shifts: Day Shifts Only
Shift : 9am-5pm Day shifts
Shifts 10pm - 8am Nights
Role Overview
Are you an experienced Healthcare Assistant looking for rewarding day shifts that fit around your lifestyle? We are urgently recruiting compassionate and skilled HCAs to support children with complex health needs in their own homes across Cambridgeshire. You will work as part of a 2:1 care team alongside a qualified nurse or senior carer. This role offers the opportunity to deliver truly person-centred, impactful care during the daytime.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate personal care in the family home.
- Assist with tracheostomy care and suctioning under clinical oversight.
- Support with PEG / JEG feeding and management.
- Assist with respiratory support, including oxygen and airway management.
- Monitor epilepsy and assist with emergency medication administration.
- Support the use of Airvo, cough assist machines, and stoma care.
- Monitor, assess, and respond quickly to changes in the child's condition.
- Work closely with the child's family and the wider nursing team.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Healthcare Assistant, ideally within paediatric or complex care.
- Valid training or hands-on experience in tracheostomy, PEG feeding, and respiratory care.
- Genuine passion for working with children who have complex medical needs.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a 2:1 care team during day shifts.
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate, reliable approach.
