Applicants must already have the right to live and work in the UK and be legally permitted to work more than 20 hours per week. At Manor House Care Home, we are looking for a kind, reliable and compassionate Care Assistant to join our team on a temporary six-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity leave cover.
We want someone who shares our commitment to improving lives so everyone can thrive and who will treat Manor House as our residents' home, not simply a place of work.
What you'll be doing
As a Care Assistant, you will:
- Provide warm, respectful and person-centred care to our residents
- Support residents with personal care while maintaining their dignity, privacy and independence
- Encourage residents to make their own choices and remain as independent as possible
- Support residents with eating, drinking and maintaining good nutrition and hydration
- Assist with mobility and safe moving and handling where required
- Support residents with their emotional, social and wellbeing needs
- Get to know residents as individuals, including their routines, preferences, interests and what is important to them
- Recognise and report changes or concerns about a resident's health or wellbeing
- Maintain clear and accurate care records
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with residents, relatives, colleagues and healthcare professionals
- Follow safeguarding, infection prevention, health and safety and other care-home procedures
- Work in accordance with residents' care plans, risk assessments and the principles of the Mental Capacity Act
- Work as part of the wider team to create a safe, welcoming and homely environment

- Is reliable and understands the responsibility that comes with caring for vulnerable adults
- Is flexible and able to work alternate weekends
Previous experience within a care setting is desirable, although we will consider applicants who demonstrate the right values, attitude and commitment to providing excellent care.
A relevant Health and Social Care qualification is desirable but not essential.
About the Contract
This position is being offered as a six-month fixed-term contract to provide maternity leave cover.
Applicants should therefore be aware that this is a temporary position and is not being advertised as a permanent role.
