Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Nursery Practitioner (Room Leader) to oversee daily operations within our childcare setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of early years practitioners, ensuring high standards of care and education are maintained. Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a designated nursery room, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and educational activities aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework
- Supervise and support junior staff, fostering a positive team environment and promoting professional development
- Plan and implement engaging activities tailored to the developmental needs of children in your care
- Ensure health, safety, and hygiene standards are consistently met in line with regulatory requirements
- Maintain effective communication with parents and carers regarding children's progress and wellbeing
- Monitor children's behaviour and provide guidance to promote positive social interactions
- Organise daily routines, including meal times, naps, and outdoor play sessions
- Keep accurate records of children's development, attendance, and any incidents or concerns
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of nursery practices through feedback and team meetings
Skills
- Proven management and leadership experience within a childcare or nursery setting
- Strong working knowledge of early childhood education principles and child development stages
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively with children, demonstrating patience, empathy, and enthusiasm
- Experience in childcare roles with a solid understanding of nursery routines and regulations
- Organisational skills to manage daily operations efficiently
- Valid driving licence is desirable for occasional travel or community outings
- Passionate about supporting children's learning through creative activities and play-based learning
