Little Astronauts is a space-themed family entertainment centre in Hull, and we're building something genuinely exciting. We're not your typical soft play. We're a modern, innovative environment where children's imaginations run wild and parents can actually relax. Managed by a young, driven team, we're growing fast and we want the right people growing with us.
We're now looking for a part-time chef/cook to join the kitchen team.
The Role
You'll be working directly under our Head Chef, supporting the day-to-day running of our kitchen and helping deliver a consistently high standard of food for our guests. This isn't a high-pressure fine dining kitchen, but it is a role where standards matter, pace is real, and the quality of what comes out of that kitchen reflects directly on the brand.
On occasion, you may also be asked to support front of house, whether that's making coffees or serving customers in the café. Flexibility is part of the deal.
Your Mission
- Prepare and cook food to a consistently high standard under the direction of the Head Chef & Operations Manager
- Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant with food hygiene standards at all times.
- Assist with stock management, food prep, and kitchen organisation.
- Step in front of house when needed, serving customers and making drinks in the café.
- Work efficiently during busy periods without letting standards slip.
- Support the wider team wherever the day demands it.
Hours & Availability
This is a part-time role with variable hours. The bulk of your shifts will fall during weekends and school holidays, so availability across both is essential. If that doesn't work for you, this probably isn't the right fit, and that's okay.
Who We're Looking For
Honestly? We can teach skills. We can't teach drive.
We're keen to hear from people who are serious about food, take pride in what they produce, and understand that a kitchen only works when everyone pulls their weight. You don't need a lengthy CV — you need the right attitude and a genuine interest in the craft.
The person we want:
- Has some kitchen experience, whether professional, college-based, or otherwise.
- Is reliable, punctual, and doesn't need chasing to do things properly.
- Can work at pace without cutting corners on quality or hygiene.
- Is comfortable taking direction and working as part of a tight-knit team.
- Is comfortable working alone once trained
- Is happy to be flexible, including stepping front of house when the team needs it.
If you take real pride in your work, want to learn from an experienced Head Chef, and fancy being part of a brand that has genuine ambition, we'd love to hear from you.
What We Offer
- Free food and drinks on every shift over 6 hours.
- Exclusive family discount scheme.
- Pension scheme.
- 25 days annual leave (pro-rata).
- Performance incentives and bonuses.
- A supportive team environment where your effort gets noticed.
- The chance to develop your skills
How to Apply
Send your CV along with a short note — a few sentences is fine — telling us why you'd be a great fit for the Little Astronauts kitchen team. We're not looking for a polished essay, just something that shows you've actually thought about it.
All successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
We look forward to hearing from you.
