Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Class 1 Tramper Driver to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will work from our site in Bury St Edmunds. The hours will be a minimum of 45. The work will mainly be the delivery of full loads and groupage freight from our warehouse and our customers in Ipswich and Felixstowe.
Duties
- Operate lorries in a safe and efficient manner while adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring that all items are secured properly for transport.
- Plan routes effectively to optimise delivery schedules and minimise delays.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage and fuel consumption.
- Communicate with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery status and any potential issues.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations while on the road and at delivery sites.
Requirements
- Valid HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) licence with appropriate endorsements for commercial driving.
- RHIDES Card - FXT Port Experience
- Proven experience as a delivery driver, preferably with flatbed lorries.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices in transportation.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Good communication skills for effective interaction with customers and team members.
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including lifting heavy items when necessary.
- A clean driving record is preferred; candidates may be subject to background checks as part of the hiring process.
