Network Rail High Speed Ltd. (NRHS) is responsible for operating and maintaining the UK's only international high-speed railway, High Speed (HS1).
The 109km HS1 infrastructure consists of a diverse range of railway assets such as the track, signalling, overhead line, lineside buildings, depots, viaducts and long tunnels. NRHS is also responsible for operating and maintaining three international stations; St Pancras, Stratford, Ebbsfleet International.
As a wholly owned subsidiary of Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd, NRHS is privately financed under an agreement with our client 'HS1 Ltd', undertaking a diverse range of activities from railway infrastructure maintenance and operations - through to station facilities management and retail on behalf of our client.

Salary: £55,411 - £61,570 enhanced by an inner London Allowance of £3,270 and an on-call allowance.

About the role - Property & Facilities Engineering Manager
As Property & Facilities Engineering Manager, you'll play a key role in leading the management and maintenance of over 20,000 assets across three international stations, four High Speed depots and a range of ancillary buildings.
Acting as the senior hard services lead, you'll provide technical oversight across mechanical and electrical systems while leading a team of in-house facilities managers responsible for the delivery of critical maintenance contracts. You'll ensure assets remain safe, compliant and reliable, drive strong contractor performance, and deliver value-for-money services through effective commercial management.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll balance technical expertise with practical delivery, solving problems quickly and maintaining high standards across a complex, high-profile environment.

Who are we looking for?
We're looking for an experienced and pragmatic hard services Facilities professional with a strong engineering mindset and the credibility to lead from the front. You'll be comfortable operating as a middle manager, developing your team, holding contractors to account, and building strong relationships with key stakeholders.
You will bring strong technical knowledge across building services, combined with a practical, solutions focused approach and strong commercial awareness. If you thrive in fast-paced environments, take ownership, and are motivated by making a visible impact on the performance of critical infrastructure used by millions, we'd love to hear from you.
Essential Criteria
- Educated to degree level (engineering, building services, workplace and facilities management) or equivalent
- Strong technical understanding of variety of building services including mechanical, electrical, utilities, lifts & escalators etc.
- Holder of relevant health & safety qualifications, e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate or similar
- Proven experience in effective management of facilities management across multiple sites.
- Holds a relevant professional membership, e.g., IEng, CEng, MRICS, MBIFM or similar.
- Proven contract management and negotiation skills with contractors and service delivery partners.
- Excellent communication skills
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of policies and standards relating to office accommodation
- Sound technical knowledge of Landlord & Tenant Law
- Full driving licence
