Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team. This role is part-time, with opportunity for extra hours helping in the bakery, or front of house, and to cover holidays. The successful candidate will be responsible for food preparation, maintain cleanliness, and deliver excellent service in a fast-paced environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in catering, cooking, and food safety within a professional setting. Prior coffee shop brunch or kitchen experience is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for food, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.
Responsibilities
- Follow the guidance of the group company‘s head chef and produce excellent brunch items for the Welton location
- Ensure all kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment are kept clean and sanitised according to food safety regulations
- Help with basic cooking tasks such as chopping ingredients, assembling dishes, and portioning food
- Restock supplies and ingredients as needed to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Assist in serving food to customers or guests when required
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times to maintain a safe working environment
- Support the team during busy periods by performing various kitchen duties as directed
Skills
- Previous experience in catering, cooking, or restaurant environments is desirable but not essential
- Strong understanding of food preparation and kitchen safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanour when serving customers or guests
- Willingness to learn new skills related to culinary arts and food safety protocols
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of hygiene and quality
