We are looking for a mid-weight Bid Writer who can take complex technical information and develop clear, well structured, and persuasive proposals.
This role would suit someone with a background in journalism, History, English, or a similar discipline, and a strong interest in research, analysis, and precise writing. You should be comfortable working with detailed material, confident asking thoughtful questions, and able to draw out the information that matters.
We are also looking for someone who understands that strong bid writing is a team effort. The right candidate will be able to work closely with colleagues across Ridge, understand the ethos of our business, and translate our values, culture, and technical strengths into tangible written content. You should be able to communicate what makes Ridge distinctive in a clear, credible, and client focused way.
About the role:
As a Bid Writer, you will work closely with technical leads, subject matter experts, and the wider bid team to prepare high quality, work winning submissions. The role is centred on clarity, structure, and accuracy, ensuring responses are well organised, easy to follow, and aligned with client requirements.
You will need strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to manage competing deadlines without losing quality. A significant part of the role involves speaking directly with colleagues to understand services, projects, delivery approaches, and the way Ridge works as a business, so strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach are essential.
The role requires someone who takes pride in producing high quality work and understands the importance of bids in helping the business secure the right opportunities. You will contribute as part of a larger team, helping to shape submissions that reflect Ridge’s expertise, values, and commitment to its clients.
Key responsibilities:

Research bid content using primary and secondary sources

Interview technical leads and subject matter experts to gather, test, and organise information

Work collaboratively with technical teams, bid colleagues, and senior stakeholders to develop strong submission content

Write and edit bid responses that are clear, structured, and convincing

Translate Ridge’s ethos, values, culture, and technical expertise into tangible written content

Ensure submissions are accurate, compliant, and aligned with evaluation criteria

Structure content in a way that is logical and easy for assessors to navigate

Support the development of high quality, work winning submissions as part of the wider team

Manage multiple deadlines and workstreams while maintaining a high standard of output

Proofread and review content carefully before submission

Build and maintain the bid library
