The Nautilus Welfare Fund is a UK-registered charity administered by Nautilus International, offering a range of specialist services to support retired seafarers and their dependents. Mariners’ Park is based in, Wallasey on the Wirral Peninsular overlooking the River Mersey. It is comprises a Care Home, Independent Living and Additional Support. This position will be based in the Mariners’ Park Care Home.
Job Purpose:
To support management to deliver high quality, personalised care ensuring that all current standards are met. Ensure excellent clinical practice, leading and managing of the care team. The role is responsible for promoting effective communication across the whole service, including positive links with residents’ families and external stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities:
· Provide a high standard of direct nursing and dementia care to residents, based on the assessment of care needs and in consultation with the residents, their relatives and the care team.
· Lead and supervise a team of Senior Care Officers to deliver high quality care.
· Provide leadership to the shift, managing the staff resources, ensuring skill mix is appropriate to meet all care needs.
· Assist the management in the delivery of safe and efficient nursing care and support services by ensuring that rota's checked and unplanned absences are covered promptly.
· Provide support and professional supervision to Senior Care officers and identify any learning and development needs via regular supervision and PDPR.
· Undertake assessments and implementation of person focused care plans and Mental Capacity and Best Interest Assessments.
· Continually evaluate the quality of care given, and regularly reassess the needs of residents in consultation with the residents, their relatives and the care team, and to effect change required to achieve planned goals.
· Undertake a range of nursing and clinical care tasks including safe administration of medication.
· Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team including GPs and other external professional to ensure fully coordinated care plans.
· Ensure that effective communication takes place within the home so that all staff members work as a team.
· Promote the compliments and complaint process, assist management in investigating any concerns and responding positively to any learning.
· Ensure that appropriate records are maintained in accordance with CQC and organisational requirements.
· Monitor compliance with legislative requirements and organisation policies and procedures and take appropriate action to ensure any areas of non-compliance are addressed in an appropriate and timely manner.
· Responsible for a LINK role in a key area of clinical responsibility, promoting best practice across the care and nursing team.
· Perform other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required
Typical Skills/Experience:
· Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
· Minimum of 2 years in caring environment.
· Supervisory experience with a minimum of 3 years leading a team including coaching care staff.
· IT competent Windows & Microsoft Packages.
· Person Focused Planning approach.

General
You will be a Registered General or Mental Health Nurse with a current NMC PIN. You have a responsibility for ensuring that you are aware of the health & safety policies and procedures for NWF and that you take responsibility for your own health and safety whilst at work. Should you have any queries or questions you must raise these with your manager. As we work with vulnerable adults, and come into contact with children, it is critical that you are able to recognise and respond to signs of or actual abuse and be aware of your responsibilities in relation to safeguarding. Training will be provided to support you in this area.
