Job Summary
Southend Mencap is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Fundraising Officer to lead our fundraising initiatives and strengthen community engagement. The successful candidate will play a vital role in developing and implementing strategies to secure funding, build relationships with supporters, and promote the organisation’s mission. The candidate will also need to source funding organisations to submit grant applications to. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to a meaningful cause while developing professional skills in fundraising and relationship management.
Hours
Contracted for 8 hours per week but these hours are flexible and can also be done remotely.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Research, prepare and submit grant applications and tenders as necessary.
- Maintain, and update when necessary, the annual budget for each of the society’s projects.
- In conjunction with the General Manager keep abreast of the funding levels for each project to understand when grant applications need to be submitted and for which project.
- Support the General Manager and other staff in preparing and co-ordinating the society’s annual fundraising events.
- Undertake such other duties, appropriate to the post, as may be requested by the Executive Committee.
Note. This is a completely new post at Southend Mencap so the job description is liable to change in accordance with the society’s fundraising and grant securing requirements.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
ESSENTIALS
- Proven experience in applying for and securing grants or other funding
- Proven experience of setting up and co-ordinating fundraising events
- I.T. skills
- Experience of supporting people with learning disabilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven administrative skills
- Ability to prioritise
DESIRABLES
- Experience of working in the voluntary or statutory sector
- Proven accounting and budgeting skills
