About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, highly organised and proactive Utilities Manager to join a well-established and rapidly growing Utilities Contractor based in Preston.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced industry professional looking to take ownership of a varied, influential and senior office-based position. Working closely with the Directors and operational teams, you will play a key role in managing and coordinating multi-utility projects, overseeing commercial and administrative processes, maintaining regulatory compliance and supporting the successful delivery of schemes from initial design through to completion.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate utility design submissions, approvals and technical queries with multiple network operators.
- Oversee Street Works notices, permits and Section 50 applications.
- Manage project completion processes, ensuring all documentation is accurate, complete and submitted within required timescales.
- Manage utility accreditations and ensure ongoing compliance with relevant industry regulations, standards and requirements.
- Oversee asset adoption processes with utility providers.
- Manage Health & Safety documentation and support wider company compliance.
- Monitor operational schedules and coordinate daily workforce activities.
- Prepare and submit utility applications, Points of Connection and network diversion requests.
- Support and oversee the estimating process, including the preparation and management of multi-utility quotations.
- Manage purchase orders, cost coding and supplier invoice approvals.
- Monitor project expenditure and assist with commercial reporting, forecasting and cost control.
- Prepare and issue client invoices.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and network operators to ensure projects progress efficiently and remain on programme.
- Work closely with the Directors to identify opportunities to improve processes, increase operational efficiency and support continued business growth.
- Take ownership of key utility processes and ensure projects are delivered efficiently, commercially and to the required standards.
About You
We are looking for an experienced professional who can demonstrate:
- Previous experience within the Multi-Utility industry.
- Strong knowledge of utility connections, network design and project delivery.
- Strong commercial awareness, including experience managing project costs and financial administration.
- Excellent organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence liaising with clients, suppliers, contractors and network operators.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and relevant industry software.
- A proactive and positive approach, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- The ability to work independently, take ownership and use initiative.
- The confidence and experience to manage responsibilities across both operational and commercial functions.
